We Believe

Statement of Faith 

   We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God and is the basis of our statement of faith, and as such has supreme authority in all matters of life and faith. We believe in the [1]Apostle’s Creed and [2]John 3:16. We believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the only saving grace, and when we believe He is Our Lord, and Savior, our sins will be forgiven and we will have salvation and eternal life.

   We believe God created mankind in His image, male and female. [3]Genesis 1:27. And when Adam and Eve sinned, they not only incurred physical but also spiritual death and because of their separation from God they caused all mankind to exist in a state of depravity as guilty sinners in thought, word, and deed.

   We believe marriage is sanctioned by God as the joining of one man and one woman. [4]Genesis 2:23-24. [5]Hebrews 13:4. And, as such, this church’s Pastors and staff will not officiate in same-sex unions or same-sex marriages nor will its property or resources be used for such purposes.

   We believe everyone should be baptized: (infant, Adult, Rededication) by whatever acceptable form of Baptism chosen by each individual person as approved by the Pastor. We believe and recognize that the Lord’s Supper represents the broken Body and shed Blood of Jesus Christ. We welcome all to partake in Holy Communion.  Although we believe in Baptism and Holy communion, they are not to be regarded as a means for salvation.

   We believe that the members of Nankin Community church are united with others attending like-minded churches through Jesus Christ, our Head, and because of that will cooperate and work together with others when appropriate to do so.

   We believe the greatest commandment is Mark 12:30-31: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”

 This Constitution is a living document and may be amended as necessary.

[1] Apostle’s Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.  On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

[2] John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

[3] Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

[4] Genesis 2:23-24: This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

[5] Hebrews 13:4: Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
